A good cleaning, and your reusable bottle will be like new!

Have you noticed a strange taste or smell to the water in your bottle? Just clean it and enjoy it like new.

Although all our bottles, whether in Tritanaluminum or thermo bottles, are made with materials that do not retain or transmit smells or tastes, sometimes, depending on the drink that has been introduced into the bottle, there can be traces (especially in the cap) that do lead to the bottle "smelling weird" or the water "tasting bad".

The good news is that it's relatively easy to remove these residues, to keep enjoying a bottle like new for a long time.

Here you have some recommendations for a perfect maintenance and conservation of the materials:

  1. Always keep the bottle dry and uncovered. This is the best way to avoid the accumulation of smell or taste.
  2. If possible, wash it always by hand. We know that the dishwasher is very convenient, and many of our products are suitable to be washed in it, but some parts suffer from high temperatures and, in the long term, they could be deteriorated. Moreover, if the bottle is large, it is difficult to be sure that the water penetrates well into the interior. If you want to wash it in the dishwasher sporadically, do it, but for the day to day, nothing like a hand wash with soap and water. And if you have a soft brush like the ones used for baby bottles, even better.
  3. If you notice a strange smell or taste, wash it in hot water with a few drops of vinegar. For very persistent smells or flavours, you can even put a few drops of bleach in the water, and leave the bottle and cap immersed in this solution all night long. Just be sure to rinse it thoroughly before using it again!
  4. If you need to dismantle the cap for better cleaning, make sure it is only handled by an adult, as some caps contain very small pieces. Some of them also have injected gaskets (Futura cap for aluminium bottles and Hit caps for aluminium and stainless steel bottles), in which case it is not possible to dismantle the gasket.

Finally, we would like to explain the reason why some stainless steel bottles may have dark spots inside of them. Some customers have asked us if it is rust, but it is not. They are small darkened areas resulting from the contact between the steel and the incandescent sparks that sometimes jump during the polishing process of the steel itself. In addition, they are completely harmless and do not affect the proper functioning of the bottle at all.
