BPA Free, means that the bottles with this symbol are free of Bisphenol A. BPA is a synthetic estrogen used in the manufacture of polycarbonate and plastic. Scientific studies have shown that it can cause hormonal changes and negatively affect our health.
The composition of the interior coating of Laken bottles is a 2-component Polyamide with a complete absence of epoxy, so it is guaranteed 100% free of bisphenol A.
Why should I avoid BPA?
Bisphenol-a is a known endocrine disruptor. Meaning it has estrogenic properties which in recent animal tests has shown to cause a series of health problems such as;

EU: Regulation (EC) No. 1935/2004
The European Union Regulation (EC) No. 1935/2004 "concerns materials and articles intended to come into contact with food" and repeals Directive 80/590/EEC and Directive 89/109/EEC.
FDA Code of Federal Regulations Title 21, Subpart 175.300 "Resinous and polymeric coatings".
To avoid risks to human health the Commission Regulation (EC) No. 1895/2005 lays down specific migration limits for BADGE (Bisphenol-A DiGlycidyl Ether), BFDGE (Bisphenol-F DiGlycidyl Ether) as well as for NOGE (novolac glycidyl ethers) and some of their derivates.
