1 ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY

At Laken, we are continuously working to refine and adopt practices to minimize our environmental footprint through solid waste reduction, recycling, and energy and water conservation.

100% recyclable bottles

According to the Container Recycling Institute, only about 14% of all disposable water bottles are recycled. The few bottles that do make it to the recycling center become ‘down-cycled’ into a lower form of plastic and very seldom become remade into other plastic bottles. As for the other 86%… Americans add 30 million PET water bottles to landfills everyday!

Laken's aluminium bottles, on the other hand, are 100% recyclable, and 100% inert, and make ideal bottles for both children and adults, for taking to work or to school, on the sportsfield and out in the country.

SUSTAINABILITY AND ALUMINUM

What exactly is sustainability? It's a word that is used a lot these days, so often in fact that it sometimes loses its meaning. Sustainability is a characteristic of a process or state that can be maintained at a certain level indefinitely. In other words, meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of the future generations to meet their own needs.

Sustainability has become a mainstream issue, a corporate culture that emphasizes environmental stewardship, economic contribution, and social responsibility. Companies that embrace sustainability principles are gaining widespread acceptance by industrial and end-use customers.

Environmental concerns foster recognition of aluminum products as an "energy bank". The electrical energy embedded in aluminum can be considered an "energy bank" because aluminum products can be endlessly remanufactured with only 5% of the energy and emission originally required to produce the virgin product. From a sustainability viewpoint aluminum's high life-cycle value and recyclability make it the best option for retaining this "banked" energy and should be promoted vigorously.

Recycled packaging

At Laken, we want our packaging to have the lowest possible impact on the world around us. We aim for four main sustainability characteristics in our packaging:

• To use 100% recycled or 100% renewable material in our packaging.
• To use the least possible amount of material per pack.
• To use materials with a low carbon footprint.
• To use materials for which there is a widely available sustainable waste management option.

2 HEALTH & WELL-BEING

We develop and responsibly market ground-breaking designs that respond to evolving demand, including a wide range of functional and customised choices that fit the healthy, active lifestyles of consumers.

LAKEN IS BPA FREE

Not only are plastic bottles wasteful, but recent studies have shown that other plastic bottles (specifically those made using polycarbonate #7) can leach harmful chemicals into the fluids we drink from them. You can read more about this here.

Laken's proprietary internal coating is taste and scent neutral, and is baked into the inner walls, preventing it from chipping or flaking off. Laken bottles exceed both FDA and EEC requirements, ensuring 0.000% leaching into their liquid continents. Laken bottles are the only aluminium bottles available on the market that are certified BPA free. Watch out for this logo:

Would you want your children drinking out of anything else?

For health and safety procedures, the threads on the mouth of a Laken bottle are on the outside, rather than the inside. This is a small yet significant health detail that gives Laken a distinct advantage over competitors. External threading is important for bacterial control, which can build-up after use in bottles with threading on the inside.

Laken is a european company, spanish to be precise. We operate an ISO 9001/2008 certified factory and all our bottles come out of the factory exceeding FDA, EEC and other international standards.

Our manufacturing headquarters in the sunny south of Spain, on the coast of the Mediterranean sea, contributes to the area being known as Europe's California. Specifically Laken’s factory in Spain is ISO 9001/2008 certified, thus guaranteeing quality throughout the manufacturing process, and is the location where Laken manufactures and paints and decorates all of its aluminum bottles.

4 ETHICAL BUSINESS PRACTISES

We deal ethically in all aspects of our business, at all levels. Our agreements with suppliers and distributors are transparent and fair. We undertake not to use unethical practises while we're negotiating the fabrication of our products.

We are working throughout our global supply chain to ensure that all the materials in our products come from sustainable sources and are manufactured to the highest standard by employees who are both well-treated and compensated fairly for their work

5 TECHNOLOGY AND CUSTOMISATION

Laken is the market  leader in aluminium bottle fabrication. Using state of the art machinery we are capable of producing 80,000 bottles per week. Special effect inks such as glow in the dark, reflective, puff and metallic are available, to provide an ever-expanding range of designs.

Our staff will focus on individual needs and then advise whether your design is  suited for screen printing. We have a custom bottle designer software online at www.designyourbottle.net so that together we can create the perfect promotional merchandise and in doing so gain maximum exposure for your brand or event.
