Comfort and security, your mountaineering essentials

Comfort and security, your mountaineering essentials

When we prepare a trail running session in the mountain, reducing the weight we carry is a priority. And, although thinking that over weight can be one of our biggest enemies out there makes perfect sense, overall in long training sessions or races, it should never become a reason to risk our security or comfort.

Then, which is the secret to find the perfect balance between what we need and what we are willing to carry?

In Laken, we sum it up in 2 words: planning and experience.

Laken trail backpakcs

These might seem very simple questions, but thinking about all this for a few minutes will help you to have a specific idea of what you are going to need in order to enjoy a comfortable and safe running.

Once you know what you need:

-          Look for a hydration backpack of you size, fitting in the most ergonomic possible way.

-          Check its pockets and compartments. You should be able to reach very easily anything you may need while running.

-          Test the stability of the things you will carry once the backpack is full.

-          Be sure that it includes reflective bands and a whistle as safety essentials.

Generally speaking, we could claim that backpack up to 7 L, like our Rider Flask Yangra 7, are suitable for short races, up to 45 kilometres at the most, not including too long self-sufficiency sections.

Those with greater capacity, like our Rider Flask Towada 15, provide much greater autonomy, not only in terms of hydration, but also in terms of equipment (warm clothes, raincoats, food, etc.). In this case, we must bear in mind that the weight we will be charging will be considerably higher.

Apart from these two models, Laken also offers its Rider Flask Spirit, a waist pack with a bellows pocket suitable to carry flexible bottles up to 500 ml.

Get properly equipped, and enjoy!
