ElCid FalcoXtrem: the spirit of self-improvement making history

Laken joins next Saturday January 25th at 5am for the first time the great trail running event of the year in Petrer (Alicante), El Cid FalcoXtrem.

It is well known that trail running has a mental, and almost spiritual, component as important as the physical one. Accepting the challenge of the mountain requires admirable strength and toughness, not only from the body, but also from the head.

Overcoming fatigue, dealing with the hours of exercise, managing energy and resources... everything is decisive when the runner faces the trail.

That's why runners tend to have different techniques of concentration and motivation. And that's also why reading the legend behind ElCid FalcoXtrem race has been so inspiring.

ElCid FalcoXtrem is a 70 km long race to be run within a maximum of 20 hours, starting and finishing in Petrer (Alicante). The positive slope is 3300m and the trail runs through different mountains in the area, starting with the ascent of Sierra del Cid, ending with the descent of Sierra del Caballo and including 8 points of refreshment and control.

The race counts for the ITRA World Championship. Therefore, it is aimed both at hikers and mountaineers who wish to challenge themselves to complete the route in less than 20 hours and trail runners who want to score in the ITRA ranking or run the prestigious UTMB race.

And it is also a challenge that recalls a great El Cid’s accomplishment who, despite being cornered in these mountains, without doubting himself for a moment and with the help of his unconditional Babieca and a mysterious knight, carrying a white banner with a red cross, came out successful.

On January 25th, at midnight, a group of brave runners will face again ElCid FalcoXtrem great challenge, in a route marked by the emblematic places of the historical facts related. And we will be there, accompanying them.
