The Mar Menor Goes Olympic Again… and So Does LAKEN
After the success of the 2024 European Formula Kite Championship, the waters of the Mar Menor once again filled with sails, excitement, and talent during the 470 Junior World Championship, held in Los Alcázares (Murcia). And of course, LAKEN was there to support it.
An Event with an Olympic Horizon
Although a youth competition, this World Championship marks a key milestone in the new Olympic cycle. The young crews competing are not just aiming for a title — they are fighting for their spot at the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
Spain, for instance, has used this regatta to scout its next sailing stars. With over 20 countries represented, the competition was as intense as it was inspiring.
Sustainability and Local Commitment
At LAKEN, we firmly believe in sport as a driver of values, but also as a platform to promote responsible habits. That's why, as we did in 2024, we are proud to be the first brand from the Region of Murcia to support this sustainable, international sailing event.
In a natural environment as delicate as the Mar Menor, environmental responsibility isn’t optional — it’s essential. And this type of initiative — led by the Club Náutico Mar Menor and Univela, in collaboration with EUROSAF and the CAR Region of Murcia — proves that top-level competition and sustainability can go hand in hand.
LAKEN, Committed to Meaningful Sport
Watching these young athletes compete with passion, focus, and sportsmanship is truly inspiring. That’s why LAKEN will continue to support sports that care, that connect, and that help shape a better future.
And we’ll do it as always: standing for sustainability, supporting local talent, and proudly sharing Murcia’s name with the world.
