Cancer remains one of the world's leading causes of morbid-mortality. That is to say, it is one of the diseases that causes most deaths worldwide. Specifically, breast cancer is among the five most commonly diagnosed types.

 

These are frightening figures but, in contrast, and in the words of the WHO itself, "when detected early, a proper diagnosis is established and treatment is available, the chances of cure are high”. In fact, in industrialized countries the survival rate of breast cancer after 5 years is around 90%.

 

This is precisely what World Breast Cancer Awareness Month emphasizes: the importance of research and early diagnosis.

 

In our country, the Spanish Association Against Cancer works tirelessly to diminish the impact caused by the disease and to improve people's lives, educating in health, supporting and accompanying and promoting research. It is, without a doubt, a commendable work that includes awareness campaigns, training, fundraising, direct aid... A positive approach to a grey situation that needs to be supported by everyone.
