Sport and solidarity on two wheels. Pepe Uribe’s achievement

Sport and solidarity on two wheels. Pepe Uribe’s achievement

Between October 1st and 4th, Pepe Uribe, an experienced cyclist from Cartagena, faces one of those challenges that most of us find almost impossible: to cover the 8,848 m of Everest 4 times.

He will do it accompanied by his team, the Cartagena-Grupo Ricardo Fuentes, and without leaving the Region.

How? By repeating more than 330 times a section of Portman that accumulates 106 m of unevenness, with an average slope of 6.7% that, in some sections, reaches 13%. In total, 36,000 m to be covered in approximately 4 days, resting as many times as he will need but without sleeping more than 6 hours in total during the whole time of the test. Quite a feat!

The challenge belongs to a discipline known as Everesting, since it uses the mythical mountain as a reference for height, with which only some cycling talents dare.

And, as if the sporting challenge wasn't attractive enough, which it certainly is, everything collected by collaborators who wish to contribute will go to the Asociación Autismo Somos Todos (We All Are Autism), which will use it to finance a pilot program to create a Community Integrated Unit (UIC) in Cartagena for young people with autism.

It is a privilege for us to collaborate with this initiative, with such noble values and objectives, hand in hand with the Cartagena-based company Grupo Ricardo Fuentes and its cycling team, for the benefit of the Autismo Somos Todos Association. If you also want to be part of it, you can do it here.

See you in Portman in October, between the 1st and the 4th. Pepe and team, we are with you!
